NBA Rumors: The Chicago Bulls are not looking to trade Zach LaVine

Even though the Chicago Bulls are technically tied (percentage points) for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, I’m not sure this is a playoff-caliber team in the Eastern Conference. While they have some strong individual pieces, and solid young prospects, the Bulls still are a year or two (or another all-star) away from truly contending in the Eastern Conference.

If there’s been one bright spot for the Bulls on the season, though, it’s been the play of Zach LaVine, who is turning in an all-star caliber season. Through the first quarter of the season, LaVine is averaging 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game on a career-high 50 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

Ever since James Harden has been dealt, many around the league have been searching to find out who the next star to demand a trade will be. After a name that has been on the mind of every wishful fan, Bradley Beal, Zach LaVine is often a player that enters the conversation.

LaVine is having a great year and is, presumably, on a bad team. He fits the mold of a disgruntled star, even if he hasn’t publically (and perhaps even privately) ever suggested that. That hasn’t stopped speculation, however.

Though, according to a recent report, we shouldn’t expect to see a Zach LaVine trade anytime soon.

"[via NBC Sports]“Nobody is, or should be, untouchable on this roster.” And at least for now, word around the league is that the Bulls aren’t looking to move LaVine. Why would they? As you say, he’s playing on an All-Star level and on a value contract.”"

LaVine isn’t necessarily on the same level as Beal but he’s still a highly productive player that is in the midst of the prime of his career. He’s, without question, a player that would demand serious interest for any team that is looking to acquire a star on the trade market.

LaVine is an expiring contract after next season, which only adds to the speculation. The Bulls must feel strongly about their ability to re-sign LaVine once his contract expires or are willing to take the risk of losing him for nothing after next season.

Either way and all this to say, the Chicago Bulls aren’t trading Zach LaVine. Or, at least that’s not in their plans. For now.
