NBA Trade Rumors: The Wizards to do right by Bradley Beal if they have to trade him

Now that James Harden is on the Brooklyn Nets, many have predicted that Bradley Beal will be the next star to find himself on the trade market. While the Washington Wizards have shown no willingness to move their star guard, many expect he’ll be traded by the NBA Trade Deadline or next offseason.

Beal is off to the best start of his career this season and is averaging 36 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game. He’s only 27 years old and very much in the prime of his career. A Beal trade would bring a historic return for the Wizards and is not something they’re going to rush, even if they come to the conclusion that a trade is how this all ends.

That said, according to a report, it seems that the Wizards intend to do right by Bradley Beal in the event that a trade takes place.

This would actually be a great act of faith by Washington, but could also hurt them at the same rate. If there’s no open bidding war for Beal and, let’s say, only three teams he’s open to being traded to, it could significantly diminish trade offers.

Instead of teams having to bid against, let’s say, 10 potential suitors (or more), you’d have teams only bidding against two or three other teams (depending on where Beal would like to be moved to).

Plus, in the event that Beal would like to join a contender or a team that is considered somewhat of a contender, it could mean trying to get the most out of a Beal offer from teams that perhaps might not have a healthy amount of assets to offer.

This could really turn into a difficult situation and I’m sure both the Wizards and Bradley Beal would like the next year and a half to go as smooth as possible, especially if there’s an ending between the two. It’d be great if the Wizards and Beal worked together on what the next season and a half holds, but if history is any indication, it’s never that easy.
