5 NBA teams who should be concerned about their slow start

With most teams having officially played between 15-20-ish games of the 2020-21 NBA season thus far, there’s enough of a sample size to begin to draw some conclusions. Of course, it should be noted that the NBA’s health and safety protocols while playing in the middle of a global pandemic, continues to throw a wrench in all this.

That said, we explore five teams that should be concerned about their slow start to the season.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are another Eastern Conference team that has got off to a horrendous start to the season. Even though not many expected them to be a contender to win the conference, many did expect this to be a contender to at the very least make the playoffs.

Through the first quarter of the season, this has been the worst team in the league. They’re dead-last in the Eastern Conference and don’t have much hope to turn around their rough start. Russell Westbrook looks like a shell of his former self and that John Wall trade is looking worse and worse by the day.

Even though Bradley Beal is having a career year, averaging 36 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game, he doesn’t have enough help on this roster for this team to be competitive in the East. And that should be alarming for this team.

With the parity within the conference and with many teams that have gotten off to a rough start, this would’ve been the perfect time for the Wizards to take advantage of that. Instead, they look worse than ever and could be on the verge of having to make a decision on whether to trade or keep Bradley Beal. It’s been a nightmare start for Washington and I’m not sure if it gets any better over the next few weeks.
