Miami Heat trade target: Andre Drummond, Cleveland Cavaliers

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that the Cleveland Cavaliers will likely trade one of their frontcourt players. Who that frontcourt player will be remains to be seen, but the Heat should absolutely make a call to Cleveland to ask about the availability – and cost – of Andre Drummond.

Drummond is an expiring contract after this season and could be relatively cheap, but Miami would have to be willing to, essentially, give up an asset for a rental. I have a hard time seeing the Heat giving Drummond a big deal after this season. If that’s something Miami would be willing to roll the dice on, Drummond should be at the top of their NBA Trade Deadline wishlist.

Drummond leads the league in rebounding and would help give this team the rim-protection that they haven’t had since the departure of Hassan Whiteside (though, he had his downfalls). Bam Adebayo is an all-NBA defender but isn’t your prototypical rim-protector. Giving Bam that insurance would make him an even better defender.
