As NBA trade rumors continue to swirl, we explore three teams that could make a move for John Collins at the deadline

John Collins has been rumored in a number of trades since it was reported that he had an issue with the way the Atlanta Hawks play on offense, specifically Trae Young. Not only that, but the Hawks did not extend Collins during the offseason after Collins expressed what he thought he was worth.

It seems as if the relationship between Collins and the rest of the Atlanta Hawks organization is growing sourer and a potential trade might be inevitable (especially if he garners a max offer on the open market).

Collins is a 23-year old power forward/center who can guard bigs, block shots, and switch on to guards defensively. He also averages just under 18 points, and eight rebounds per game. A 23-year-old who can do all that for your team? You would think the market would be bigger, but there’s one wrinkle.

Is a trade of John Collins the solution?

The problem is Collins is up for free agency next year, and he’s already expressed how he would like to be paid. Other teams around the league saw that and have seemed to stay away thus far. Despite all of the negative outcomes a trade for Collins may provide, I think there are just as many positives as well.

Here’s a few teams I believe could make a move for Collins for their playoff push this year and could also look to re-sign Collins to a long-term deal after this season.
