Why the Toronto Raptors should trade Kyle Lowry: It’s time to enter a new era and it won’t include Lowry

Kyle Lowry is the final piece still on the roster from the heart of the previous era of Toronto Raptors basketball. After Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka left town during the offseason, the writing was on the wall for this team – and that a pivot was probably closer than many realized.

After a slow start to the season, this may be the ideal time for the Raptors to get a jump on the pivot and possibly move some of their veteran assets – Kyle Lowry being one of them, and arguably the most valuable of them.

Lowry is still a good player and might still have a few more playoff runs in him, but it likely won’t be with the Raptors. Lowry will forever be associated with the Raptors franchise and will be remembered as a folk-hero but it’s time for both sides to move on.
