Dallas Mavericks: Ranking the 10 best potential third options for the Mavs
Dallas Mavericks target, No. 2: CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers
For years there have been rumors that the Dame-CJ backcourt could be broken up. Critics say that they’ve exhausted all they could together and have hit their cieling as a duo.
They haven’t been broken up yet and at times they have proved those critics wrong by making the conferencce finals a couple of seasons ago. Nevertheless, as we know in the NBA, that could change on any given day.
C.J. McCollum on the Mavericks next to Luka would be scary. McCollum has all the attributes the Mavericks are missing; he can create his own shot, come off picks, isolate, pick-and-roll player, and get to the hoop consistently.
While many of the Mavs players spot up and wait to be passed to, McCollum would move without the ball, and he can generate the offense taking pressure off of Luka. It wouldn’t be a long learning curve for McCollum, he is used to being the second option in Portland and would fit in easily with Luka, who is a pass-first superstar.
