Dallas Mavericks: Ranking the 10 best potential third options for the Mavs
Dallas Mavericks target, No. 10: Talen Horton-Tucker, Los Angeles Lakers
The NBA is full of stories of players who are sitting on the bench waiting for their opportunity to showcase their talent. Some players aren’t drafted to the NBA and have to work to get on a roster, while others are drafted low in the first round or second round and are not excepted to be impact players in the league.
Players such as Ben Wallace, Udonis Haslem, Jeremy Lin, Marquis Daniels, Fred VanVleet, and P.J. Tucker were all undrafted players who impacted winning on NBA teams they played on. Other players like Patrick Beverley, Gerald Wallace, Hassan Whiteside, Michael Redd, and Jimmy Butler were drafted but did not have immediate success.
Talen Horton-Tucker showed in the preseason he has game, where he averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebound, three assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 54 percent from 3-point range.
Although he did enough to get in the Lakers’ rotation, on a loaded championship team he won’t have the green light he had in the preseason or that he would have on another team that was looking for a young scorer.
Since Horton-Tucker is unproven, I have him No. 10 on the list. If he goes to the right team or the Lakers keep him after LeBron retires he might have a chance to be a star in the league.
