NBA Rumors: Exploring 5 teams that should target DeMarcus Cousins after his release.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Houston Rockets are parting ways with big man DeMarcus Cousins. The team is looking to go in a younger direction in the frontcourt, leading to Cousins being put on the open market.

This move means that any team could sign Cousins, with the big man open to choosing where he would like to continue his career. With his resume, Cousins will likely have no trouble finding a new home.

While his numbers are far from his All-Star days, Cousins has still provided solid contributions for any team he has been on. This season he has averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, with the big man still providing some staunch defense and offensive plays (with Cousins even having a 28-point, 17-rebound outing against the Mavericks in late January).

His experience and capabilities would be beneficial for a number of teams who need to fill a void in the center position, with a number of contending teams likely to duke it out for his services. While many teams will try to get Cousins on board for their cause, there are teams that should make signing Cousins once he hits the open market a priority.
