NBA Trade Rumors: What are the best possible landing spots for Kyle Lowry, if he is indeed on the trade block?
Kyle Lowry, maybe the greatest Toronto Raptors player of all-time, is somewhat on the trade block.
He might not be the greatest individual player, but he has been in Toronto since 2013-14 and has been with the franchise through all the ups and downs.
The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor recently reported that the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to acquire the veteran guard. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey added that if Kyle is on the market, both the Miami Heat and LA Clippers would both be interested in trading for him too.
At 34 years old, Lowry isn’t the player he was in his prime, but he has proven this season to still be a very serviceable option at the lead guard on both ends. This season, he’s averaging 18 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 41 percent from 3, and 86 percent from the free-throw line.
Building on those impressive numbers, Cleaning the Glass ranks him in the top 10th percentile among all point guards at effective field goal percentage. He’s also still the elite defender of guards on that end of the court, forcing turnovers and playing sound positional defense, as he always has.
The only issue is, he’s about to turn 35 and is on an expiring contract. Pour those two ingredients into a glass and you have yourself a win-now cocktail. Any receiving team would hope to capitalize on how good he has been playing thus far and hopefully make some noise in the playoffs, if not win it all.
The first of those teams is the Philadelphia 76ers.
