NBA Trade Rumors: Celtics interested in Jerami Grant, Nikola Vucevic
NBA Trade Rumors: The Boston Celtics are looking to make a big move at the trade deadline, eyeing Jerami Grant and Nikola Vucevic.
As we approach the NBA All-Star break, the Boston Celtics are one team that needs to reassess themselves and hit the reset button heading into the second half of the season. The team has, for the most part, been underwhelming this season and has some ground to make up if they want to be considered a championship contender in the Eastern Conference.
One effective way that they could do that is by making a big move at the NBA Trade Deadline. And that’s something that Danny Ainge is reportedly very much trying to pull off.
According to The Athletic (subscription required), the Boston Celtics are one team that is eyeing big moves ahead of the trade deadline. Two players that they’re reportedly interested in are Jerami Grant and Nikola Vucevic.

Grant is having a breakout season with the Detroit Pistons after signing a free-agent deal with the team during the offseason, averaging 23 points and five rebounds on 43 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from 3-point range.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Pistons would even be open to moving Grant and how much the Celtics would be willing to give up in a potential deal. If nothing else, that’s certainly something to keep a pin in and come back.
Boston’s interest in Vucevic is nothing too surprising. The team has a need in the frontcourt and the signing of Tristan Thompson hasn’t worked at as they believed. Vucevic would be a natural fit, and he’s been a consistent player for the Orlando Magic for what feels like a decade.
Vucevic is arguably having his best season in Orlando, averaging 25 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists per game. He’d be a great addition for Boston but would come as a costly one.
One thing is clear, the Boston Celtics are being aggressive and intend on making a move at the NBA Trade Deadline. The big question is whether or not they’ll be able to come to an agreement and whether or not it will be a move that raises this team’s ceiling.
