NBA seller candidate: New York Knicks

While the New York Knicks have been unexpectedly good through the first half of the season, that doesn’t mean that this is a team that is ready to be all-in on this season and a playoff push during the second half of the year.

Sure, if the season ended today the next would be in the playoffs. Though, unfortunately for the team, the season does not end today. The Knicks have been a great story for the first half of the season but I still find it highly unlikely that they’re going to be a top-five seed in the Eastern Conference at the end of the season. They might be able to back into the playoffs as one of the final two seeds in this conference, but they’re not going to be much of a factor in the postseason should they get there.

The Knicks have done a great job in establishing a new culture for the team, but this is still a team that is far away from contending and East. They should be open to any big moves that come their way at the trade deadline. In fact, you can make the argument that they should try and sell some other veteran pieces ahead of the deadline in an attempt to position themselves for bigger moves down the line.
