Warriors guard Stephen Curry narrowly edged out Mike Conley in the 2021 NBA MTN Dew 3-Point contest
For the first time ever the NBA MTN Dew 3-Point Contest was held on Sunday, rather than All-Star Saturday Night. It was an exciting event, that kept the few fans inside the arena on the edge of their seats as Stephen Curry shot the lights out.
The Participants
- Mike Conley
- Jaylen Brown
- Steph Curry
- Zach Lavine
- Donovan Mitchell
- Jayson Tatum
The first round of the competition was close, Mitchell and LaVine were even tied at 22 each. Steph Curry led the way with 31, next was Conley was 28, Tatum with 25, and Brown had the lowest score failing to crack the 20-point threshold with 17.
In the second and final round, Tatum underwhelmed with 17 points. The round was far from underwhelming though as Curry and Conley’s shooting shinned. Conley followed Tatum, posting an impressive 27, and was on the cusp of capturing his first, and likely only 3-point contest win until Curry took over.
Steph or as many say Chef Curry started cold missing his first four shots in the final round, but just as he does in real games, he heated up quick finishing with 28 edging Conley by a single point.
The performance was so impressive, Curry’s coach Steve Kerr tweeted “Boom” on Twitter in all capital letters. Safe to say, this must correlate with his Superstar’s performance in what many consider the event of the evening.
Surprisingly this was only Steph’s second 3-point contest win against seven appearances in the event. Be that as it may, he won this year and it’s safe to say, his spouse Ayesha along with their three beautiful children (Riley, Ryan, and Cannon) were all cheering him along big time whether they were home or in the arena.
