As the second half of the NBA season gets underway this week, the expectation is that so will the league’s rumor mill. The NBA Trade Deadline is just two weeks away and there are several teams that will be looking to make improvements to their roster ahead of the push for the playoffs.
One of those teams is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics have already been linked to several players ahead of the deadline, but there’s reportedly one that many around the league appear will land on the Celtics when the trade season is all said and done.
That player is Harrison Barnes, who could be moved by the Sacramento Kings between now and the trade deadline.

According to a recent report (via The Athletic, subscription required), many expect Barnes to be on the Celtics by the deadline.
Barnes is having a solid season with the Kings but the team simply hasn’t made the steps forward that perhaps they believed they would make this season. After nearly making the playoffs last season, the Kings have taken a clear step back and it’s time for the team to tinker with the squad.
One tinker could very well mean departing with Barnes. The former NBA champion is averaging 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game on a career-high 49 percent shooting from the field.
Barnes would absolutely be a solid addition for the Celtics and would help add depth and versatility to this team’s frontcourt. Barnes also has the capability to be a good defender and would give them an upgrade to the offense.
It’s tough to say if the addition of Barnes would solve all of Boston’s first half of the season issues, but there’s no question that he’d help the team on multiple fronts. The Celtics have the necessary assets to get a deal done as well and a big trade exception that they could utilize if they wish.
