NBA Draft prospects to watch: Jalen Suggs, Gonzaga

Jalen Suggs is the straw that stirs the Gonzaga machine. He’s helped lead the Zags to a perfect regular-season record and hopes that this magical season will end with an NCAA Championship. From an NBA perspective, there is plenty to like about Jalen Suggs too.

He has ideal size for a point guard and has great vision and decision-making. Coming off a freshman season in which he averaged 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game on 51 percent shooting from the field, Suggs could use a strong NCAA Tournament performance to solidify himself as a top 3 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The concerns about Suggs revolve around his shooting consistency, specifically his ability to hit the 3-point shot at a high rate. He shot 35 percent from deep this season on a little more than three attempts per contest. If he can calm those concerns, he has a very real chance of being the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
