In our first NBA Mock Draft of 2021, Cade Cunningham shines as a potential franchise-changing prospect.

The 2021 NCAA Tournament is underway, the NBA playoffs are on the horizon, and we’re beginning to get a little more normalcy in the basketball world. Still, in the midst of a global pandemic, it’s not known how the process will end up looking ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft but it should feel a little more real than last season.

We kick off draft season with our first NBA Mock Draft of 2021, in which the Minnesota Timberwolves lead the way.

1. Minnesota Timberwolves – Cade Cunningham, G, Oklahoma State

It would be quite interesting should the Minnesota Timberwolves finish with the worst record and secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. I’m not sure if any team has won the draft lottery in back-to-back seasons, but this might be the franchise that needs it the most.

Despite the young talent on the roster, the Wolves simply can’t right the ship. Hopefully, that begins to change with a player that most believe can have a franchise-altering impact. Cade Cunningham will be the No. 1 pick and he could end up being the piece that makes it all work – and change – in Minnesota.
