8. New Orleans Pelicans – James Bouknight, G, UCONN

The New Orleans Pelicans need help in the backcourt, especially if they don’t plan on re-signing Lonzo Ball, J.J. Redick, and don’t consider Eric Bledsoe as part of the team’s long-term plans. James Bouknight might be a good fit for a young team such as the Pelicans.

During his sophomore season at UCONN, Bouknight averaged 19 points and six rebounds on 45 percent shooting from the field. He was a breakout star for the Huskies and proved that he can be an explosive lead guard.

Despite his good size, there are some concerns about his individual defense. He’ll have to improve on that end of the floor if he hopes to be a long-term starter in the NBA. Especially if he isn’t as dynamic on offense as some of the other guards in this draft class.
