NBA Trade Rumors: The Miami Heat want Kyle Lowry. It could be a perfect match.

To the surprise of no one, it’s now being reported (again) as the NBA Trade Deadline quickly approaches that the Miami Heat is pursuing a trade for Kyle Lowry. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this messaging this time around is that Miami might be Lowry’s preference.

Whether that means anything at the end of the day remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on if indeed the Toronto Raptors decide to move Lowry ahead of the trade deadline.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"League sources say the Heat are pursuing a deal for Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry harder than anyone, though the Clippers and Sixers retain interest.Lowry recently said he wants to retire with the Raptors even if he needs to sign a one-day contract. But if he gets dealt, league sources say his preferred destination is Miami because of his close friendship with Jimmy Butler."

The Heat has struggled with consistency this season despite being the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Heat’s roster is not equipped to compete with the likes of the Brooklyn Nets at the moment and there are concerns about whether this year’s version of the team would be able to keep pace with the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers in a seven-game series.

Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson haven’t been as efficient as they were last season (and specifically inside the NBA’s restart bubble) and it’s had a huge impact on this team’s offense.

The hope would be that acquiring Lowry would not only ignite the team’s overall morale but that it would also jumpstart the team’s offense. It would give the team another playmaking guard next to Jimmy Butler and take some of the pressure off him defensively as well.

Lowry is still a highly productive star, averaging 18 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game on 39 percent shooting from 3-point range. You can’t discount his relationship with Jimmy, too, which would undoubtedly help this team heading into the playoff push.

A happy Jimmy is a good Jimmy.

The Miami Heat will be looking to make a big splash at the NBA Trade Deadline, and it appears that the team’s No. 1 target seems to be Kyle Lowry. Will it all come together?
