Mavericks land Spencer Dinwiddie

Nets send: Spencer Dinwiddie, Landry Shamet

Mavericks send: Dorian Finney-Smith and Dwight Powell

The Brooklyn Nets are in an interesting spot. They are the title favorites; they also $11.5 million tied up to a player (Spencer Dinwiddie) who doesn’t help them this year, yet still may have value to other teams.

Dorian Finney-Smith would be a perfect addition as a wing defender, and Dwight Powell could be an (another) potential center option.

For Dallas, parting with Finney-Smith is a tough pill to swallow, but picking up Dinwiddie’s bird rights would be crucial for the franchise’s offseason spending plans. Clearing Powell’s salary helps too, and Landry Shamet would fit in the Seth Curry role from last year.
