Expect: Victor Oladipo trade for CHEAP

Victor Oladipo is going to be traded at the deadline. Woj reported that the one clear thing about Dipo’s trade market is that he will very likely be dealt. But no one really knows what kind of return he will get.

But I think I do (look at this narcissist!). Dipo is going to get traded for a lightly protected first rounder, salary filler, and a young-ish player (think Kevin Knox). And yeah. We really do not know what Dipo is going to provide for his next team. He is still playing solid defense and putting up buckets, albeit inefficiently. His athleticism has either not returned yet from his quad injury in Indiana or will never return to its heights before. He will cost a pretty penny on his next contract.

Here’s the thing, though. If you are a team that believes in Victor Oladipo, you make this trade. Whether you think he can return to his All-NBA status or that his current level of play will be massively beneficial to your current roster, you will get him for significantly less than you value him. Which makes the trade worth it.

Prediction: The Knicks make a short sighted but not horrible move and send Kevin Knox + the Mavs’ 2021 first rounder (lottery protected) for Oladipo.
