NBA Trade Rumors: 5 potential landing spots for George Hil
When the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired George Hill during the offseason, there was speculation the veteran would not finish the 2020-21 campaign in OKC. Therefore, when Adrian Wojnarowski dropped one of his signature Woj Bombs on an ESPN trade special discussing how Hill is garnering interest, it was more confirmation, than an explosion.
The strong market for Hill is a bit puzzling, every year at the trade deadline veteran’s value either skyrocket or plummet. Hill’s value falls into the former category. Still, George Hill has been in the league for over a decade, he is on the wrong side of 30, and he has not played since late January because he underwent surgery on his right thumb.
With that, let’s discuss five potential landing spots for the point guard.

NBA landing spots for George Hill: Denver Nuggets
Last season, the Denver Nuggets scrapped their way into the Western Conference Finals. This year, at times it feels they have lost their way. Their star center and MVP candidate Nikola Jokic is also their main floor general, but when he sits, the offense must keep moving. That’s where Hill fits on the roster.
In this scenario, Hill would recapture the role he played in Milwaukee where he would come off the bench.
NBA landing spots for George Hill: Boston Celtics
It feels like the Boston Celtics are one of the biggest disappointments every season. This year is no exception. Simply put, it feels like the Celtics are missing at least one piece. Maybe that piece is a veteran leader such as George Hill.
NBA landing spots for George Hill: Miami Heat
Pat Riley currently has his eyes set on Kyle Lowry of The North, if the Raptors do indeed part with their legend, Hill will be of no interest to the Heat. However, if they do not, or if the asking price is too high, Sam Presti could sweep in with a less expensive, and lower asking price for Hill.
Given the Thunder and Heat have already made one trade together this season – as the Heat added Trevor Ariza – the two sides could be eager to pull the trigger on a second deal.
NBA landing spots for George Hill: LA Clippers
The LA Clippers, much like the Heat, are looking to sure up their point guard depth ahead of a potential long postseason run. If they strike out on their first or second targets. Hill is not a shabby third option. Perhaps, Hill can play a similar role for the Clippers, as another former Thunder guard does for their neighbor the Los Angeles Lakers.
NBA landing spots for George Hill: New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans currently have two point guards on their roster, Lonzo Ball and rookie Kira Lewis. Earlier in the week, it was rumored Ball could be on the move to the Clippers. The Pelicans could benefit from a competent floor general to run pick and roll and feed starlet Zion Williamson and big man Steven Adams. If Nola adds Hills and his health holds up, the Pelicans could climb the standings and become a dangerous playoff squad.
In the end, the Oklahoma City Thunder hold the cards here because they have the asset teams are seeking. Currently, Sam Presti is on the clock because time is running out for him to add to his war chest of assets, at least until after the Finals begin.
