Power ranking the top 5 NBA Defensive Player of the Year candidates.

We’re in the home-stretch of the NBA season, this is where the NBA awards speculation starts to heat up. While most of the focus is on the LeBron-Embiid-Jokic-Harden-Giannis MVP race, another interesting race to follow this season is Defensive Player of the Year.

As we all know, defense goes a long way to winning a championship and some players out there greatly impact the outcome of the game with their defensive prowess. Yes, they do this by blocking shots and stealing the ball, but they also do it by altering offensive schemes, blowing up offensive sets and setting a stout defensive tone for the rest of their team.

Top the list consists of all NBA talent on contenders, so certainly how things shake out in the last six weeks of the season could ultimately determine who wins this award.

With apologies to Paul George, Patrick Beverley, Bam Adebayo, the currently-injured Joel Embiid, and the currently-injured and GOAT LeBron James – this is the current Defensive Player of the Year Power Rankings.
