Reasons for optimism for the Washington Wizards: Bradley Beal has made it clear that he wants to remain in Washington

If there isn’t much that can be celebrated when looking back at this season, the fact that Bradley Beal has made it clear time and time again that he wants to be with the Washington Wizards for the foreseeable future should be a great consolation prize. Beal is the next big-name player that many were hoping would become available on the trade market, but he’s quickly turned down that thought many times in the past few months.

It’s been reported at length (subscription required) how Beal wants to remain in Washington and how he wants to be the leader of the Wizards. Even though there might be better options and avenues out there if he wants to win a championship, he’s perfectly fine with trying to build something in the Nation’s capital.

And that’s something that, if nothing else, Wizards’ fans should feel great about. Beal is one of the rising young stars in the league today and is on pace to be on the same level as some of the other superstars in this league (assuming he continues to play at such a high level).

At least for the time being, Bradley Beal wants to be a Wizard. That, for this season at least, is plenty more valuable than a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs play-in tournament.
