Why the Boston Celtics can make a deep run in the playoffs: The team is playing its best basketball of the season at just the right time

The Celtics are one of the hottest teams in the East and are only gaining confidence with every win that they earn. This is a team that is playing its best basketball of the season heading into the playoff push and could really catapult this team to another level if they can carry this momentum into the playoffs.

In the last 12 games, the Celtics have emerged as a top 10 offense and defense, and have the league’s fourth-best net rating over that stretch. For a team that had been average for much of the season on the defensive end of the floor, the Celtics have certainly raised their play on that end of the floor.

Assuming that the Celtics can continue to play at this high level over their last 16 games, the team will have a different level of confidence and momentum than they have at any point this season. That’s a dangerous development for any contender in the Eastern Conference.
