Weird feud between Charles Barkley and the Brooklyn Nets lives on
By Criss Partee
A weird feud between Charles Barkley and Kevin Durant is very much alive as the playoffs draw near.
On a recent episode of “Inside the NBA,” Charles Barkley took yet another opportunity to dig at the Brooklyn Nets and the super team they’ve assembled. During the segment, Barkley explained his position on how he feels about the Brooklyn Nets and their current situation.
"“I’m always gone root against Brooklyn,” Barkley said. “I just don’t like the way they put that team together. I’m never gone be a proponent of guys building their own – teaming up, never gonna be for it. So, I’m rooting for anybody to beat Brooklyn.”"
The always outspoken Barkley made his feelings crystal clear about what he hopes happens to the Nets during their quest for an NBA championship. The underlying component of Barkley’s hate directed at Brooklyn no doubt stems from his ongoing beef, if you will, with Nets’ star Kevin Durant.

This grudge between Barkley and Durant has been in play for going on five years now. Like many former NBA greats of generations past, Barkley was extremely critical of Durant for his decision to leave Oklahoma City in 2016 in favor of teaming up with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in Golden State. Since then, anytime Barkley gets the chance to take a dig at Durant or the team he’s playing for, he can’t resist.
During the post-game interview on opening night this season, Durant took the opportunity to get back at Barkley and anyone that questioned his moves over the past five years.
Barkley asked Durant a generic question about him working on his game coming off the Achilles tendon injury and getting his conditioning and timing back. To that, Durant took a moment of awkward silence before answering, “Yeah.” With head, down, and towel draped over him.

So, Barkley’s latest jab at the Nets and how he’s rooting for anybody to win the championship but them is no surprise. He [Barkley] knows how sensitive Durant can be and does not hold back in hopes of sparing his or anyone else’s feelings, for that matter. Sir Charles [Barkley] doesn’t care either.
The playoffs should be rather comical anytime the TNT crew gets a Nets game, and we get another forced interaction between the two. This feud has the making of one that will stand the test of time no matter what the circumstances are whenever Barkley and Durant cross paths.
