Why Nikola Jokic should win the NBA MVP: His unique skill-set and offensive impact
What makes Nikola Jokic special is that he’s a one-man offensive system. He can score the basketball at will if he needs to, can distribute at a high level and at an efficient pace, and is an overall good rebounder.
A player his size shouldn’t have the skill-set that Jokic possesses. We haven’t seen anyone his size do what he can do with the basketball on the offensive end. You can make the case that Kevin Durant and Giannis are uniquely skillful, but Jokic is a pure center. KD and Giannis aren’t centers.
Jokic is the star that stirs the Nuggets’ offense and accounts for a significant amount of the scoring from the team overall (when you consider his nine assists per game average). The Nuggets have the third-ranked offense in the NBA and I’m not sure they’d even be close to that without Jokic.
