Which team would benefit and needs to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft most?

As the 2020-21 NBA season is drawing to a close, there are many teams that have their eyes squarely on what lies ahead during the offseason. For many teams, that means the 2021 NBA Draft, where several franchises will have the opportunity to draft a player that could change the course of their futures.

While teams are already making preparations for the offseason and the draft, we do have a few dates locked in. The draft combine will be June 21-27, the draft lottery will take place on June 22, and the actual NBA Draft will be on July 29.

For many fans, the NBA Draft Lottery is the key date there. It is the event that locks in picks and it’s often where the draft truly begins. That’s when mock drafts can become a bit more clear and when teams can begin strategizing.

As it currently stands, with roughly 15 games remaining in the regular season, there are four teams that will have between a 12.5-14 percent of landing the No. 1 pick. And those four teams are within striking distance of one another where they could move up and down the probability ladder between now and the end of the regular season.

Between the four teams with the highest probability of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, we explore which franchise would benefit the most from it.
