Do the Houston Rockets need to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft?

The Houston Rockets are loaded with draft assets for the next few seasons. And might have the second-best player on any one of these four rosters in Christian Wood. The Rockets may not have James Harden on the roster anymore but they do have some potential building blocks.

Aside from Wood and the myriad of draft assets that they possess, the Rockets also have two established veterans in Eric Gordon and John Wall, and Kevin Porter Jr. has had some strong moments since he was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this season.

It would be great if the Rockets landed the No. 1 overall pick but this franchise’s future won’t be made or broke by it. The Rockets will be fine just by getting a top 4 talent in this draft. They may have had a season to forget, but this team still has a route back to relevance that doesn’t necessarily need a No. 1 overall pick to come to fruition.
