Why the Charlotte Hornets should be patient with LaMelo Ball’s return: You don’t want a setback heading into the offseason

After such a strong season from the Hornets this year, the last thing that this team needs is a potential setback from LaMelo Ball. Had it not been to injury, Ball likely wins the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award and he still might (although unlikely).

Ball doesn’t need to be rehabbing heading into the offseason. The Hornets need Ball healthy heading into the offseason so he can have a (hopefully) traditional offseason with the team in order to continue to develop and progress as a budding star.

Even if the Hornets sacrifice a spot in the playoffs or winning a potential play-in tournament game, the franchise needs to do whatever is necessary in order to get Ball into the offseason with an opportunity to grow as a player and within the organization. Being injured would put him at a disadvantage heading into the offseason.
