8. Toronto Raptors – Scottie Barnes, G, Florida State

As the Toronto Raptors prepare for an offseason in which they could lose the face of their franchise (Kyle Lowry), this summer could be the start of a new era for Canadian basketball. One way to help them jumpstart this new era is by hitting a home run with their projected top 10 pick.

One player that the team could target is Scottie Barnes, an intriguing wing prospect out of Florida State. His counting statistics left some to be desired, but Barnes has great size, is an already elite defender, and has the potential to be a good offensive threat.

Barnes would be considered somewhat of a gamble, especially in the top 10, but isn’t that the game of the draft? Especially for a team like the Raptors, who have a few core players already on the roster?
