Trae Young continues to have his way with the New York Knicks.
Through the first week of the NBA Playoffs, there might not be a more impressive player in the Eastern Conference than Trae Young. At the very least, in his first playoff appearance, Young has shown that the moment isn’t too big and that he’s embraced playing spoiler for the New York Knicks.
As the Atlanta Hawks took a 2-1 series lead in Game 3, Young continues to have his way with New York’s defense as he takes his team one step closer to advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Even though Young didn’t have his best game of the series in Game 3, he still finished with 21 points and 14 assists on 42 percent shooting from the field. During the first three games of this series, in which the Hawks have looked like the better team more often than not, Young is averaging 28 points and 10 assists on 48 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Trae Young is carving out his legacy
Looking back at this year’s postseason, it’ll be remembered as the stretch in which we got a sneak peek at the future in the NBA. Young stars are rising and making their presence known in the postseason.
Through the first week alone, we’ve seen breakout performances from Luka Doncic (who is picking up where he left off in the playoffs last season), Ja Morant, Devin Booker, and Young. The NBA’s future is in good hands.
As this playoff series continues, Young is only going to solidify his place as one of the brightest young stars in the league. He’s even embraced becoming a villain in this series against the Knicks, something that not every player is willing to do.
If this series heads back to New York with an opportunity for Young to end the Knicks’ season, you can almost bet that he’s going to look forward more to that moment than for the moment in which the Hawks advance – as crazy as it seems.
Young is a budding star and he’s paving his legacy with this performance in the playoffs. The Knicks, unfortunately, are just the team that has fallen in the way. Young is a special player and he’s showing just that during his first postseason appearance.
If this series is just getting started, that means we’re still in for a few more “Young moments.” That might not be good news for the Knicks, but it certainly is for Hawks fans. Young is the real deal and feels like he was made for the NBA playoffs.
