After a stellar junior season that saw him win the Bob Cousy Award, Ayo Dosunmu’s draft stock seems to split amongst teams and draft analysts alike. He’s no doubt got the playmaking, athleticism, and defensive attributes to warrant being selected in the first round.
Dosunmu’s best role in the NBA might be as a defensive-stopping playmaker, who can create his own shot when needed playing opposite of an elite scorer or two.
His shooting and ball-handling ability have some questioning whether or not he can be an elite scoring threat at the next level, but given his mid-range game, I think Dosunmu’s best-case scenario would be if he can mold himself into a player that can impact a team in a similar way we’ve San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan do for much of his career.
