8. LaMelo Ball, 19, Charlotte Hornets
LaMelo Ball was one of the biggest question marks heading into the 2020-21 NBA season. After being a high draft pick, Ball proved quickly that he belonged in the NBA. He quickly became the new face of the Hornets and was worthy of winning the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award despite only playing in 51 games.
During his impressive rookie season, Ball averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists on 44 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s a foundational piece for this franchise and is just getting started as a professional.
Ball is a budding star in the league and will have the Hornets in a good rebuilding place heading into the offseason. Drafting and taking a risk on Ball could not have worked any better for the Hornets.
