All-NBA Selections, The Academy Awards of the NBA.
There were three All-NBA snubs that immediately came to mind after seeing that the list had been released. I put a lot of thought into each of the three snubs. I went back and forth, wondering if there was recency bias, or maybe I was missing something. Or third, maybe I’m just crazy.
After doing a bunch of digging on basketball reference, and some of my own personal game logs from the regular season, I settled on three guys that I have no doubt made all NBA. The problem, not all three players or, “snubs” could make the All-NBA third team simultaneously.
Why? Well for one, there just simply aren’t enough spots. Two, all NBA is set up by positions. This inevitably leaves guards behind just because of the amount of good to great guards in the NBA. Third, I think the All-NBA selections were pretty spot on this year. There wasn’t a lot of room for error, I agreed with almost every selection.
Here’s the list of everyone who was selected to an All-NBA team for reference.
All NBA First Team All NBA Second Team All NBA Third Team
G- Stephen Curry G- Chris Paul G- Kyrie Irving
G- Luka Doncic G- Damian Lillard G- Bradley Beal
F- Giannis Antetokounmpo F- Lebron James F- Jimmy Butler
F- Kawhi Leonard F- Julius Randle F- Paul George
C- Nikola Jokic C- Joel Embiid C- Rudy Gobert
Now that we’ve seen the All-NBA roster, let’s get into my three choices for this season’s All-NBA snubs.
