Grading Brad Stevens’ first move for the Boston Celtics: Bringing back Horford and adding a center prospect

I don’t think we need to rehash much of how valuable Al Horford was for the Celtics during his three years in Boston, but the hope is that he could help be the answer for the team in the frontcourt. The Celtics have struggled to fill that role since Horford’s departure and what better stopgap than to try and bring him back until they figure it out completely.

Don’t discount the addition of Moses Brown either. Even though he’s not a household name, he’s a player that did flash at times during his second season in the league. Brown started 32 games for the Thunder this past season while averaging nine points and nine rebounds on 55 percent shooting from the field.

Brown is a good big man prospect, standing at 7-foot-2 and nearly 250 pounds (listed). It’ll be interesting to see if he can continue to develop in Boston’s system. If nothing else, he’s a good prospect to take a shot on in this deal. Stevens saw enough value where he essentially fits the role of the No. 16 pick in this draft.
