Indiana Pacers: Hiring Rick Carlisle would get the franchise back on track
Hiring Rick Carlisle could help get the Indiana Pacers back on track.
Over the past few seasons, the Indiana Pacers have made some head-scratching moves. With arguably the two biggest pertaining to decisions regarding this team’s head coaching roles.
The Pacers elected to part ways with Nate McMillan last year after being swept by the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs. Indiana then decided to hire Nate Bjorkgren as the team’s next head coach before elected to part ways with him after just one year on the job.
Now, the Pacers are looking for another head coach for a second-straight offseason. One interesting name that has arisen in the rumor mill as a potential fit for the Pacers is Rick Carlisle, who recently elected to part ways with the Dallas Mavericks.

I can’t help but think how hiring Carlisle could exactly be what this franchise needs to bring back some stability into the locker room and on the head-coaching sidelines.
"[via ESPN]I’ve heard this from like four different places. Nobody directly involved, and nobody who is – not Rick or anybody especially close to Rick. But there is a lot of smoke about a potential Rick Carlisle reunion with the Pacers."
The Indiana Pacers need stability
Even though the Pacers have made the playoffs nine times in the last 11 years, after what this locker room has been through over the last two seasons (in terms of coaching) a stable leader needs to be brought in.
Whoever is the hire needs to have 100 percent backing from the front office. And I’m not sure there’s a name out there that would have the entire backing of the front office, the entire respect in the locker room, and the notoriety that is needed than Carlisle.
Carlisle is one of the most respected head coaches in the league today and would bring instant stability to a franchise that is in desperate need of it. Plus, he’s also a candidate that simply makes sense.
The Pacers’ roster may not be on the same level as the Eastern Conference contenders but they have some solid building blocks. Carlisle would be able to get the most out of this roster and could potentially help in taking this team and franchise to the next level.
Hiring Carlisle would be a win-win for both him and the Pacers. He may not be the only good fit for Indiana, but I’m not sure there’s a candidate that makes more sense.
