Why Penny Hardaway may not be the answer for the Orlando Magic: The Magic are a mess

Who are the Magic? They got off their three best players at the deadline. Their two young assets in Jonathan Issac and Markelle Fultz are recovering from serious knee injuries.

They did get back Wendell Carter Jr. from the Bulls, and Gary Harris from the Nuggets in their deadline trades, which is solid but another hold before they get any return on investment. Orlando just has an odd roster of a lot of players who are injury-prone, or too young to impact them positively, and project players who are two years away from being two years away.

So if they bring in Hardaway, in order for his tenure to be considered a success, he’ll need a lot of time. Similar to Brett Brown in Philly, during the beginning of the process. Minus Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, that sounds terrible if you ask me.

With all that being said, I think Hardaway will become the next head coach of the Orlando Magic because their fans will love it and because Penny will want a chance to coach his former team, and at the highest level there is. Not to mention it’s a chance to beat the odds.
