NBA Playoffs: Another injury stole headlines between Bucks-Hawks

Injuries continue to steal the headlines in the NBA Playoffs; both Trae Young and Giannis Antetokounmpo are now ailing.

Another injury has managed to be the story of the night in the NBA Playoffs. After Trae Young injured his right foot in Game 3 and then missed Game 4, the hope was that another big-time injury wouldn’t be the main story again in the playoffs. Especially after all the unfortunate injuries that have already transpired in this year’s playoffs.

Although, that wasn’t the case after Game 4 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks.

As the Hawks managed to tie the series against the Bucks without Young in the lineup (which should’ve been the story of the night), Giannis went down with what appeared to be a gruesome lower leg injury in the third quarter that quickly became the story of the night.

Giannis didn’t return to the game after the injury and is set for more testing today and his status for Game 5 is currently uncertain. The hope is that the injury is not serious but even if it isn’t, you’d have to think that there will still be a fair chance that he misses Game 5.

Either way, it is unfortunate that, once again, another injury to an all-star has stolen the headlines in the playoffs.

Of the teams still standing in the conference finals, each team has had at least one of their all-stars miss at least a game. And it’s paced a dark cloud over what should be considered one of the most competitive playoffs in recent history.

Instead, these playoffs have been more about the players that were robbed of a playoff run than the ones that are actually performing at a high level. It’s a shame that it’s come to this during the postseason but the hope is that it gets better overall on the injury front.

Especially in this series, with both Young and Giannis on the mend, you can’t help but play the “what if” game in your mind. Nevertheless, the circumstances are what they are (whether they seem fair or not). All that can be done now is to try and make the best of them. Still, it’s a shame that injuries have stolen the headlines so consistently this postseason.
