Pros: The Advantage of the New York Knicks being out of conference

If the Blazers are willing to trade Lillard, they will most likely want to trade him out of conference to a team that has assets and cap They also ideally would want to send him to a team that Lillard prefers as a thank you for all his years of service. The Knicks check all the boxes in that category

Reports (credible or not) in the past have linked Lillard to the Knicks and he’s expressed an affinity for playing in Madison Square Garden. Going into this summer the Knicks have a league-leading $50 million-plus in cap space and five first-round picks in the next three drafts. In addition to that, they have several young assets on cheap deals such as Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, and Obi Toppin.

Any trade package for Lillard is going to be complex and will most likely require a combination of all the assets the Knicks have, but it’s pretty safe to say not many teams can come close to an offer that the Knicks could give.
