5. Orlando Magic – Scottie Barnes, G/F, Florida State

The Orlando Magic are a team that you really can’t predict how they’ll approach the draft. With the No. 5 pick, I have them making the first splash of the draft by selecting Scottie Barnes. Barnes is a player that has risen up draft boards over the past few weeks and one of the biggest high-risk, high-reward players that could be taken in the top 5.

On paper, there is a lot to love about Barnes. He has the measurables, athleticism, and potential to be a star at the next level. Even though he left some to be desired during his time at Florida State, the raw potential can’t be denied.

The Magic would be taking a big swing with this selection and would have to be patient with his progression. Either way, taking Barnes at No. 5. would make a ton of sense for a team that needs to take some big swings this offseason.
