Cleveland Cavaliers: Pros and cons of trading down in the NBA Draft
Should the Cleveland Cavaliers make a move?
This is not an easy question to answer. Even though the Cavs have some solid pieces on their roster, I’m not sure this is a team that should be trading out of the top 3 – unless it comes in the way of an established star.
Quite frankly, I’m not sure there’s any team that will be offering up an established star for the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft. If the Cavs would be trading this pick to move back a few spots for a player that they are more sold on, then you can possibly get me on board.
Adding an additional future first-rounder to move back a few spots to outside the top 5 while still getting a prospect that they truly believe in, that’s a solid plan. However, I’m not sure that’s entirely plausible.
It might be in the best interest of Cleveland to continue down their current rebuilding process and perhaps by taking another shot at a top 3 pick. Then again, I’m not being paid millions of dollars to make this decision. Either way, the week leading up to the 2021 NBA Draft should be quite interesting.
