Exploring the recent rumors and musings regarding the 2021 NBA Draft.

The 2021 NBA Draft is one week away. And as teams begin to learn more about the prospects and finalize their plans for the draft, it’s only natural that we’re going to hear and see more reports emerge from reporters.

According to recent reporting from The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, there are several teams that, expectedly, will be looking to make a move on draft night. Of note:

"League sources say the Cavaliers have received significant trade interest for this selection, and the Raptors and Magic—the next two teams up to pick—have made offers to move up."

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"…League sources say the Warriors are highly active in trade talks involving this selection.…League sources say the Kings have shopped this pick for players who can help them win now.…League sources say the Pacers are incredibly active in trade talks involving this pick, both for deals moving into the top 10 or out of the draft entirely."

Which of these reports makes the most sense as the 2021 NBA Draft draws near?

Basing this off common sense, the only team that I firmly believe is looking to make a serious move at the draft is the Warriors. It simply makes sense for this team. They have a core that is ready to win now and one that wouldn’t really benefit from taking two lottery players in this year’s draft.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are in the backend of their prime and it wouldn’t make sense to continue to surround this core with young rookies that need development.

Equipped with two lottery picks, the Warriors are a team that could make a true move at the draft – whether that be for an established star (perhaps a disgruntled one) or a series of quality starters that would help give this team a better shot at winning the NBA championship next season.
