Golden State Warriors: Would adding Myles Turner be a big enough of a splash?

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly interested in Myles Turner.

With as many assets that the Golden State Warriors have heading into the offseason, it would be somewhat surprising if they didn’t make some sort of move ahead of the start of next season. In an attempt to maximize their team’s chances at getting back to contender status next season, it’s only the smart line of thinking to utilize their two lottery picks to try and add a star to help take this team to the next level.

And so far, a couple of the names that have been linked to the Warriors have been Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal. However, those seem like pipe dreams at the moment. One of the first realistic names that have been linked to the Warriors recently is Myles Turner.

The Indiana Pacers could be looking to shake up their roster during the offseason and Turner could be one asset that they use to accomplish that.

Would Myles Turner move the needle as an acquisition for the Golden State Warriors?

The big question for the Warriors, however, is if, in fact, that move would be enough of a splash to really move the needle for the team. Turner is a good, productive player but is also not on the same level as a Lillard or Beal.

For as much hype as the Warriors have had head into the offseason, perhaps it would be viewed as a bit of a disappointment if they only managed to acquire Turner. The Warriors would without question improve as a team but it’s not exactly the “splash” move that many are expecting them to make during the offseason.

Turner is coming off a season in which he averaged 13 points and seven rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent shooting from 3-point range. On top of being a true stretch-5, he’s also one of the better interior defenders in the league.

He’d fit right in with what the Warriors need on the defensive end and would give Draymond Green more freedom and flexibility on that end of the floor as well.

Adding Turner may not be the sexiest move that the Pacers could make during the offseason, but he’s certainly a player that would help the team take a step in the right direction. The problem is that the Warriors don’t just need to improve during the offseason. They need to send a message.

And, for as good as Turner is and would be for the team, I’m afraid that’s not exactly the “message” the fan base is looking for.
