NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers could target Buddy Hield this offseason.

Coming off somewhat of a disappointing title defense, in which they lost in the first round of the NBA playoffs at least partly due to injuries to both LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers head into an offseason in which an upgrade to the roster has to take place.

Even though the Lakers will likely focus on improving the roster via one of the big-name free agents, they could also explore the trade market if they can’t strike a deal.

Recently, the Lakers have been linked to Buddy Hield (subscription required) recently as the Sacramento Kings could look to move on from him this offseason.

Buddy Hield could get the fresh start that he needs with the Los Angeles Lakers

Even though Hield is not exactly coming off one of the best seasons of his career with the Kings, he’s still an incredibly productive player and could find some rejuvenation by playing next to LeBron and AD on the Lakers.

Hield could benefit from a change of scenery and is still a good shooter. That will likely only improve by playing next to LeBron. Assuming Hield can put his recent struggles behind him and embrace a third-option scoring role, there’s a chance that he can have his most impactful season thus far.

Hield likely won’t have his most productive season with the Lakers, considering his role, but could have his most impactful one. Hield has yet to play such a role for a playoff team through his young career thus far, and this challenge would be an interesting one for him to embrace at this point in his career.

If the Lakers miss out on some of the other big-name free agents that could possibly raise the team’s ceiling even higher, acquiring Hield wouldn’t be the worst of moves for a team that absolutely needs to make a change during the offseason.
