NBA Draft recap: A special moment

Surprising absolutely nobody, the Detroit Pistons took who they hope to be their face of the franchise in Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 pick. Upon getting drafted, Cunningham showed love to Detroit, proclaiming he was “all the way in.” He capped off his night by pulling out some shades and walking off stage.

Sometimes it’s good not to overthink things. The Pistons received multiple offers for pick No. 1 and even considered taking other players with the top pick before settling on Cade. More than likely, it’s the right choice. Cunningham was the consensus No. 1 pick, wanted to go to Detroit, and projects to be a future All-Star level player.

Trading away your chance at a franchise cornerstone made Pistons fans squeamish to think about and absolutely would’ve caused uproar in the NBA community.

Congratulations, Pistons. I wish you all the best.
