Big risk NBA free agents: Spencer Dinwiddie

Considering that Spencer Dinwiddie is coming off a torn ACL and a season in which he didn’t really play much, the risk is obvious here. Dinwiddie, and rightfully so, is seeking the most money possible and will likely sign a contract that will pay him close to $20 million per season.

He’s likely going to be a starting point guard next season and will have to now play with expectations. That’s not something that he’s ever had to play with thus far in his career. Though, and what will likely get him his big payday, he did have an impressive 2019-20 season in Brooklyn as a starter.

If he can get back to that player, there’s no question that he’ll be worth the big-money deal that he’s likely going to sign this summer. That said, coming off an injury, there’s no guarantee of that and that’s the biggest reason why he’s going to be considered a free-agent risk.
