Blazers sign Norman Powell for 5 years/$90M

Grade: D

Plain and simple: The Portland Trail Blazers stay pretty stagnant with this move. Then again, they really didn’t have much wiggle room or flexibility heading into the offseason.

After failing to get out of the first round this year, the Blazers committed a lot of years and money to re-sign Norman Powell and keeping the same core together. The problem is that it doesn’t help them move the needle in the Western Conference.

It gets even worse. If the Blazers decide to blow it up, teams probably won’t be clamoring to get a guy on such a long contract that is fast approaching his 30’s.
