Four priorities for the Houston Rockets ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season.

After a tumultuous and disappointing 2020-21 season, the Houston Rockets are looking forward to a new beginning and a fresh start after their star player and franchise cornerstone James Harden demanded to be traded.

As it appeared that all hope was lost in Clutch City after Harden’s departure, it actually was the beginning of great things to come despite the Rockets finishing with the worst record in the league. The Rockets have accumulated a young core of players mixed with a group of veterans who should provide guidance and leadership.

We shall see how head coach Stephen Silas does with this current group but realistically, this team isn’t expected to be competitive until two or three seasons from now as they focus on developing the young core.

If the Rockets should make the playoffs even as a lower seed, then it would be considered a highly successful season and would signal that they are way ahead of schedule. We explore four priorities for the Rockets heading into the next phase of their rebuild.
