Houston Rockets: 4 priorities heading into the 2021-22 season
Houston Rockets’ offseason priorities: What role will Jalen Green play initially?
Being a high draft pick comes with enormous pressure and expectations. Many look for these players to become superstars right out of the gate and oftentimes that just isn’t the case.
Green is super talented and appears to be ready to be inserted right into the starting lineup once the season tips off. But in the NBA, nothing is given and everything must be earned so Green will have to prove that he is the man for the job.
He is capable of playing both guard spots as well as small forward but he will have Wall and Porter Jr. to contend with in the backcourt and would also have to beat out Tate, Danuel House, Jae’Sean Tate, and Martin Jr. in the frontcourt. Green has the confidence and competitive nature to win a starting job but if Silas decides to bring him off the bench, he most likely will still play plenty of minutes.
Either way, expect Green to improve as the season progresses as he should make a strong push for the Rookie of the Year Award.
