The New York Knicks may have found another hidden gem.

Well, well, well, what do we have here?! The New York Knicks may have found a hidden gem in rookie point guard Miles Mcbride. Nicknamed “Deuce” since third grade, Mcbride played college ball for the West Virginia Mountaineers and averaged 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

McBride saw a bit of draft night slide as he was taken 36th overall of the 2021 NBA Draft, despite many pundits having him projected as a late first-round pick.

Nevertheless, thus far in the Las Vegas Summer League, McBride has been making the case for himself as a lottery-level talent.

McBride is best known for his aggressive defensive prowess, however, Wednesday night it was his offense that shined. Playing against the Los Angeles Lakers in just his third summer league game, he scored 22 points on 7-9 shooting which included 6-6 shooting from 3. He also added seven rebounds and five assists.

This type of production from the point guard position is something that is all too foreign for Knicks fans. This offseason, the Knicks signed Kemba Walker (after he was bought out from the Oklahoma City Thunder) to be the starting point guard.

Derrick Rose, who was re-signed by the team, is expected. to be the backup. Though, the 20-year-old McBride is already certainly making the case for himself in Summer League. At the very least, it’s looking more and more likely that he’s going to have a roster spot solidified.

Many Knicks fans thought the Knicks would do well drafting Sharife Cooper or Jared Butler in the second round but it seems that New York had their sights set on McBride. And with the way he’s looked thus far in Summer League, how could you question New York?

Even though the Knicks would like to see a bit more from Quentin Grimes, the team’s late first-round pick, it seems like there is plenty to be excited about when it comes to McBride and his potential future as a Knick. New York has done it again, it seems.
